BRIGHT Trade Show XIV 2012 Pt. 3
Filmed by Colin Clark.Volcom
It's their way to say thanks to the kids, the base, the community: hot dogs, branded beanies & beers for free at he Volcom booth at BRIGHT! Jens of Volcom let's us know that it is just on part of the Volcom philosophy to spread goodies to the kids who go crazy for it. Same with their contest concept of Let The Kids Ride Free (LTKRF) which they organize every season for every category they're dealing in. A free contest for kids and pros who get the chance to qualify and get the chance to European finals and of course go home with the biggest goodie bags you can think of. So they follow that idea with the concept at BRIGHT and the visitors appreciate that, of course they do! And the business? "We are really satiesfied and as a result we have two new clients. For us it's not so much about ordering, it's more about the image we present. It's important to us to stay authentic in everything we do!", Jens says. So guys, just go ahead!

BRIGHT Impressions

LIFETIME COLLECTIVE
We saw colours, brightness, neon, plastic. After such a trip it's really relaxing to calm down in terms of material and colour extremes and inhale some warmth and nature insiprations. And that's what happening at the LIFETIME COLLECTIVE booth - relaxation for the eyes. The 2-parts mens range is on one hand more experimental and fashionable and on the other hand still very outdoor. Go there and get the impulse of directly wanting to put up your tent in the woods and be the best-dressed camper ever seen!

DVS is living proof
DVS demonstrates its water- and winterproofness. Check out their new boot HAWTHORNE for FW 2012/13, lined with neopren by weatherprotective tongue gussets. Function meets nubuc, a boot that should definately be held in your hands once. In terms of the kids range DVS goes for colours, so for the first time they present styles with many different clours, playful and cute.

BRIGHT EUROPEAN SKATEBOARD AWARDS presented by RELENTLESS
Berlin. Friday night. Formal dress code. Sounds like a regular boring whatever-award-event but it was a historic moment for the European skateboarding scene when BRIGHT and Kingpin invited all the relevant makers, riders and shakers to the auditorium of the former Stasi headquarter. Finally this room was reasonably used since the Eastern German Security Service built it... It's really hard to get why this did not happen before - so Ladies and Gentlemen, please give respect to the Europen Skateboard scene! What was on the agenda? 70 members of a selected jury of people that are deeply and daily connected into the scene were asked to choose their three favourite nominees for the following categories: Kingpin Readers Choice Best Rider, Best Skate Shop, Best Photographer, Top Brand, Best Cover, Rookie of the Year, Best Video, Hardest Slam and Best Skater. The hosts of the night Sally Braid and Lennie Burmeister had kindalike the hardest part: keep a yelling audience in check and try to let this SOMETHING like an official award show. Two hours filled with tension, surprises and icons like Ray Barbee being playing solo guitar or Skin Philipps of TransWorld speeking and every respectfull listening and of course the AWARDS! We had it all what a perfect night needs: champagne, music, winners, skate rats. and ray Barbee. Thanks to Mathieu, Marco and Thomas for being so passionate about this and thanks to Smart, Nike SB, Mpora Kingpin and special thanks to RELENTLESS for making this possible: going down in history. And here are the winners of the first BRIGHT European Skateboard Awards:
Kingpin Readers Choice (70.000 votes): Eniz Favilov / Best Skate Shop: Lost Art, Liverpool / Hardest Slam: Steve Forstner / Photographer of the Year: Sem Rubio / Best Trick: Steve Forstner / Cover of the Year: Sem Rubio, Kingpin / Best Video: Lukas Puig, adidas / Rookie of the Year: Albert Nyberg / Brand of the Year: Palace Skateboards / Best Skater: Lucas Puig.
